My life has changed dramatically over the past year.
And I don't just mean that I've grown as a person or anything like that.
I mean, I have grown as a person. I am not at all the same person I was a year ago. Or even six months ago.
But when I say that my life has changed in the past year, I mean almost everything about my life is different. From my job to where I live to what kind of "luck" I have. Everything is different.
A year ago, I worked a full-time job I hated, wasn't in a good place physically or emotionally, was extremely depressed, angry, nothing seemed to go right for me.
I was having a hard time.
But that's not the life I live today. Not even close.
I left that awful job. I work part-time now at a place I love. I'm healthy and happy. And amazing opportunities seems to fall in my lap all the time.
It wasn't luck that brought about the changes.
I did it. I created that change.
Ok, so that sounded super conceited. Scratch that.
What I mean is, I changed my mindset around my situation. I shifted my story in a way that changed my life.
What's your story?
I'm sure you're sitting there thinking "What is she even talking about?!" What does it even mean to shift your story?
First, let's get clear on what your story is.
Your story is what you tell yourself about your life. It's the narrative that you believe to be true.
But sometimes it's not.
A year ago, my story was extremely negative.
I'm stuck at this job. I can't find other work. There's nothing out there. I don't have time to pursue my passions. Nothing goes right for me. I have terrible luck. Nothing is ever going to be different than it is now.
That was my story. That's what I told myself every day.
So of course that's how my life was playing out.
I was sending out negative thoughts and negative energy. And that's what I was receiving back.
I was stuck because I believed I was stuck. Nothing went right because I didn't believe it could.
Get it? I was telling my story and creating it at the same time.
And finally, I'd had enough of that story.
Shift the story
I finally got to a point where I was fed up with the negative story I was living. I was ready to change my life. I wanted something different.
So I shifted my story.
Instead of speaking negative things into my life, I shifted to the positive.
I will leave this job. I will provide for myself. I will have a successful blog and business. I have time to pursue my passions right now. Good things flow to me. I am provided with limitless opportunities.
Do you see what I did there?
I changed my story to the kind of life I wanted to be living.
I spoke positive truths into my life every day.
And the result? I did leave that job. I do provide for myself. I do run a successful blog. I have had time to pursue my passions every day for the past year. Good things do flow to me every day. And I am provided with amazing opportunities constantly.
When you start speaking positive truths into your life, you begin to take inspired actions, and you'll see your truths flowing to you.
You'll be living the life of your dreams.
Taking inspired action
So, obviously you can't just think good things and expect everything about your life to change overnight.
Yes, as you think positive thoughts, you will begin to see a change.
But you'll need to take inspired action.
Essentially what that means is that you'll start behaving as if you already have the life of your dreams. You'll start making decisions as if you already are the person you want to be.
How would you act if you already had everything you wanted?
What kinds of decisions would you make?
For me, that took the shape of being much bolder than I felt. I actually quit my full-tim job without having anything else lined up. No source of income. Nothing.
But that's the action I would take if I were already successful. And I believed good things would come.
And they did!
I had a part time job within 3 days of putting in my notice. And my side hustles have been growing ever since.
I shifted my story.
I decided what kind of life I wanted to live.
And then I lived it.
Your next steps
Now, I am not telling you that you need to up and quit your job to start shifting your story.
But you need to decide what you want your life to look like.
What do you want your life to feel like?
That's your new story. That's what you tell yourself every day. Claim that life as if it's already yours. And then it will be.
I know it sounds way too easy.
But that's how it works.
You get to decide what your life looks like. You get to decide your story.
And when you decide to shift to the positive, when you decide to take inspired actions, you'll start to see your story come to life around you. It won't just be a "story" anymore.
It'll be your life.
