An Introverts Guide to Self-Care

If you've been hanging around for any length of time, you've probably gathered by now that I'm an introvert.

And not a subtle introvert, I'm practically a borderline hermit.

I'm not ashamed of that. It's who I am. And even though I haven't always been confident in my skin, I've grown to see my introversion as one of my strengths.

But, it's no secret that there are some struggles that come along with being an introvert. I've found that it can be hard to find time for self-care, even though I do spend a good bit of time at home recharging.

Why You Need Minimalism in Your 20s

I wish I'd found minimalism sooner.

I was 26 when I first started thinking about decluttering my home and pursing a simpler life. Minimalism was a game changer and I am incredibly grateful for the way it has changed and shaped my life.

Since then, I have seen such incredible benefits of changing my lifestyle. I can only imagine how much better off I would be now if I had found minimalism in my early 20s.

There is no wrong time to start making changes in your life. It's never too late to do things differently. But looking back, there are so many benefits to embracing a simpler life earlier on.

The Benefits of Having a Do Nothing Day

I love vacations.

But doesn't everyone?

They're kinda the best thing ever. And usually the very first day I'm back at work after a vacation, I'm already daydreaming and waiting for the next one.

And that's because, if I don't plan a vacation for myself, I usually end up running myself ragged with work and chores. Every weekend or random day off gets filled up with chores and errands and being an adult.

Quick and Easy Ways to Practice Self-Care

It's really hard to find time for yourself.

Practicing self-care sometimes gets a bad rep as being selfish. So, at least for me, it ends up getting pushed to the bottom of my to-do list. Everything else comes first.

And even though I do my best to keep my days empty and slow, sometimes my schedule gets away from me.

Busy can creep up on you out of nowhere.

And on those busy days it is so difficult to put down the to-do list and do something just for me. The end of the to-do list never comes, and I end up in bed, exhausted, and well on my way to being sick.

Simple Ways to Practice Self-Care at Work

Work is stressful.

That's a sad fact of life.

Even at the most chill jobs, there can still be some stressful times. There will always be long days that leave you exhausted and wanting to curl up on the couch and binge Netflix for 13 hours.

I may have a little experience in that...

We all have those days. When work gets tough, I usually wait until I get home and then I spend some time practicing self-care with a few of my favorite ways to unwind.

But what if I can't wait to get home?

4 Myths of Minimalism

At first glance, creating a minimalism lifestyle can seem daunting.

What's the first thing you think of? White walls, empty rooms, black and white clothes... It's easy to get overwhelmed by the amount of stuff you think you need to get rid of or replace. It's hard when you think you have to meet a certain standard.

But being a minimalist doesn't mean you have to let go of your personality.

Minimalism isn't black and white.

There are a lot of ideas of what it means to be a minimalist, and a lot of those are myths. Minimalism doesn’t have set standards or rules you have to follow. It looks different for everyone.

The Unexpected Side Effects of Minimalism

When I started pursuing minimalism a few years ago, I had some ideas of what I thought it would do to my life. I had done my research.

I'd spent weeks pouring over pictures of beautifully white and bare homes. Everything was so clean, so bright. That's what my life was going to look like. Minimalism, I thought, was the magic pill that would turn my home into a magazine spread.

6 Ways to Identify a Toxic Relationship

One of the hazards of my job is that I am constantly surrounded by toxic people.

OK, maybe not quite surrounded. But sometimes it feels like it.

In every season of my life, there has been at least one person hanging around who is just not good for me. There always seems to be a toxic relationship in my life.

At this point, I'm starting to think that I attract them, that they are drawn to me by some unknown force.
